An exciting opportunity exists for a highly organized and proactive individual to join our IT team as an IT Assistant (Operations and Administration) . This role is critical in supporting the daily operations and maintenance of IT systems across various domains, including desktop and user support, IT infrastructure, data management, and helpdesk services. The successful candidate will provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of IT services. This position requires a strong technical foundation, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to manage moderately complex IT tasks in a dynamic, multi-branch environment.
Key Performance Outputs
- Deliver Tier-1 end-user support for hardware, software, and systems across a multi-platform environment, ensuring timely resolution of user issues.
- Set up and configure desktop systems and peripherals, including the creation of user accounts and enforcement of security protocols.
- Install, upgrade, and maintain software and hardware components, ensuring system functionality and compatibility.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and connectivity; escalate complex problems to senior IT staff when necessary.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on IT equipment (e.g., PCs, printers, drives), and assist with basic network diagnostics and testing.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls, maintaining compliance with organizational policies.
- Document IT operations by keeping accurate records of incidents, solutions, configurations, and system changes.
- Facilitate data migration and system integration between platforms as needed.
- Act as a communication bridge between IT and end-users, ensuring clear updates and efficient problem resolution.
- Support departmental initiatives and IT projects by participating in task execution and continuous improvement efforts.
Technical Skills and Experience
The successful candidates must have the following:
- Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Business IT or related field.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar IT support role.
Competencies
- Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of PC hardware, Microsoft operating systems, and peripheral devices, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and repair.
- Networking Fundamentals: Familiarity with networking protocols, basic network diagnostics, and industry-standard IT practices.
- Diagnostic and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to effectively use diagnostic tools and apply logical approaches to identify and resolve hardware/software issues.
- Time Management and Prioritization: Self-motivated with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness when completing tasks, with a focus on quality outcomes.
- Analytical Thinking: Capable of analyzing problems, evaluating options, and implementing effective solutions independently or collaboratively.
- Customer Service Orientation: Strong interpersonal skills and a user-focused mindset to provide effective and courteous technical support.
- Helpdesk Operations: Prior experience logging, managing, and resolving IT support tickets in line with SLAs.
